1986…a contest.  a bike.  a norco bushpilot in red is delivered to my house.  that started it all.  mountain bikes have shaped my life.    i have worked in the industry as a store owner and manufacturer’s rep, raced at an elite level and even spent some of my (our) wedding money on a  ritchey  p-23 back in the day.  i live in the 780 area code = edmonton, alberta, canada.   that’s where ridethe780 comes from.   i know, a flatlander.  the rockies are 3 hours away.  what we do have in edmonton is the BEST urban singletrack in Canada.  kilometers of trails in a river valley that run right out my back door.   i have ridden utah, france, british columbia, quebec, colorado and the closest mountains to my  ’hood,  jasper, alberta.  if you need info on gear, training, and tips to make a good ride great, you’ve come to the right place.
